The Word Studies

The Earth is full of the majesty and glory of God. His touch and love and truth are evident in all the work of His hands. He is the Creator, and studying His creations profoundly points our souls to Him.
The Word Studies is a Bible-study add-on that works seamlessly with The Organic Studies (our nature-based curriculum). While studying nature, your child will see through the lens of faith and find deep truths and principles that flow with their other schoolwork. There is so much to learn about Jesus while studying birds, stars, flowers, or landforms. Everything shows us that He is at the center of all.
Jesus Christ taught in parables because parables provide learning opportunities that meet us where we are, and teach us anew every time. Using topics His hearers understood, the Lord taught timeless truths using images such as seeds, pearls, and oil. With this devotional series, we are seeking to emulate His perfect way of teaching. This year, while you study a variety of nature-based topics, your child will use what they learn about nature to provide a foundation for understanding more about Jesus Christ. His beauty will be evident in every line and every verse of scripture, and His creations will be the basis for a deepened understanding of His words and teachings.

"I started using The Word Studies this school year as a Bible study in our morning time. After eight years of homeschooling, I’m usually not easily impressed by a curriculum. I also don’t like to rave about anything (films, restaurants, etc.), afraid of over-hyping it to the point that friends lose the experience of having fresh eyes.
So please, take my opinion for just that. However, I was so impressed by how Idlewild was able to weave scripture so well with nature. After using The Word Studies for two months, I was so enamored that I added in The Organic Studies to go along with it. This beautiful blending of the Word of God with nature study is well done. It brings the punch and power of scripture, while still being able to keep to short lessons, low prep (I only sometimes grab a few of the suggested library books), and work harmoniously together.
You can easily do The Word Studies on its own. I would just reword some of the intro since it quickly reflects on what was learned in The Organic Studies. I am currently using this with a 13, 10, and 8-year-old, but could see it easily used with 4-13-year-olds as a family study. I am truly impressed!"

Course Details
The Word Studies is a Biblical study course for ages 5 and up that uses nature-based learning to seek truth, understand principles, and point your child’s soul to Christ. This 34-week Bible study add-on was created to work harmoniously with our full curriculum The Organic Studies, and provide a God-based perspective and lens for learning about the natural world.
This course provides four easy-to-follow lessons each week that are all based on scripture. Since your nature-based learning will provide the foundation and topic for your Biblical study, these lessons are designed to be done after your Organic Studies work for that day. Each lesson of The Word Studies is meant to be led by a parent or caregiver so that meaningful discussion will help ignite faith. Lessons vary in length from 10-15 minutes, depending on the depth of your discussion.
Because we want you to feel confident that The Word Studies will be a good fit for your family, we have provided 3 sample weeks for you to peruse!
